The "We are KNB" series gives you a peek behind the curtain to understand what makes our band of healthcare communications experts tick. We ask them about their motivations and goals as well as some personal questions.
This month we would like to highlight one of our Fall interns, Meredith Wishart. Here are a few questions we asked her below:
What drew you to healthcare marketing?
Studying marketing throughout my time at Fairfield University has opened my eyes to all that the field has to offer. Engaging individuals to create value is critical in all fields, but especially important in healthcare. To use the marketing process in a way that impacts the wellbeing of individuals is truly special. Working in a field that allows me to feel that I have created a positive impact is all I can ask for!
What are you most looking forward to in your time working with the KNB team?
I really do consider myself a ‘people’s person’ and have always loved working with others and being a part of a team. Since researching KNB and now having been introduced to the team, I have seen what a close-knit group of people they truly are. Working in a collaborative, supportive environment with individuals moving minds in healthcare is rare to come by, and I’m excited to become a part of it!
What would you say is your greatest strength?
I like to think my positivity fuels everything I do. Growing up, my parents instilled in me that nothing great comes from a bad attitude. The simple decision to view things in a positive light will make the world seem like a warmer place! I bring this mindset into every aspect of my life. Whether it has been on the field hockey or lacrosse field, the classroom, or with my friends and family, I have found true success with this outlook on life, and plan on bringing it into my work at KNB!
Where do you see yourself in five years?
In 5 years, I will have ideally found my footing post-grad! Jokes aside, I hope to be fulfilling a career in the marketing field at a change driven organization. I love the creativity behind the marketing process and the strategies used to engage with clients and consumers. I hope to be fulfilled through my work and feel that I am somehow making a difference, no matter how small.
What was your childhood dream job and why?
Growing up, I always dreamed of becoming a teacher. My mom is a 5th grade teacher and I have seen firsthand the impact she has had on each of her student’s lives. As I grew up and opened my eyes to various careers better suited for my skills and interests, I still have such an admiration for teachers and all that they do… they certainly do not get enough appreciation!
