Each semester, the team at KNB brings in new interns to learn about the healthcare and life sciences industries, as well as develop skills in the marketing, PR, and communications fields.
One of their first assignments is mock reporting: here’s their interviews of each other:
Allison interviewing Jamie
Allison: Could you introduce yourself?
My name is Jamie Lee, and I am a senior at Boston College. I am majoring in Applied Psychology and Human Development with minors in Marketing and Communications. This is my first experience working in a marketing and PR agency, and I’m excited to develop a variety of skills and learn more about the healthcare industry this semester! Outside of school and work, I enjoy figure skating, traveling, cooking and watching TV shows.
Allison: What inspired you to enter the field of healthcare and lids sciences marketing and specifically intern at KNB?
Although the marketing field is so vast, I was particularly drawn to the sector of healthcare because of the positive impact the industry works towards for patients and surrounding communities. I also found that my own values align with those at KNB and its work culture, particularly in terms of collaboration and inclusivity.
Allison: What do you hope to learn from this internship?
This internship provides a lot of learning opportunities, and I hope to expose myself to different components of marketing on the various projects I will contribute to from PR, market research, content development, and more! I am also looking forward to gaining insight and mentorship from my supervisors and other professionals on the team whether it's on specific marketing practices or information about the healthcare industry.
Allison: If you could live in any movie or TV universe for a day what would it be?
I would definitely say Ratatouille! This was my favorite movie growing up, and I would love to experience what it would be like to work in Gusteua’s restaurant as a chef!
Allison: If you could have any superpower for a day, what would it be and why?
Telepathy! I feel like this superpower would allow me to communicate in new ways and strengthen my relationships (in some ways). I am also really curious about what my dog is thinking!
Jamie interviewing Allison
Jamie: Could you introduce yourself?
My name is Allison and I am a senior at Binghamton University, a public school in New York. I am majoring in English and minoring in data analytics! I am also currently starting an MBA graduate program at the school where I will concentrate in marketing and business analytics. I am looking forward to working more in PR and learning what it is like to market in an agency. At school, I used to be the head editor of my school newspaper, but now I am the head of marketing.
Jamie: What inspired you to enter the field of healthcare marketing and specifically intern at KNB?
I have had marketing internships in a variety of industries in the past, including the banking industry, media, and nonprofit. Each time I get a new internship I like to try something new and the healthcare field is something I have not crossed before! I love KNB’s inclusion of PR, analytics, and the media as well in the work they do. It is very versatile in the marketing industry.
Jamie: What do you hope to learn from this internship?
I hope to gain more experience in areas of marketing I have yet to cross, such as PR. A lot of the work I have done already is very new and exciting! So far I have pitched quotes to journalists, helped write an SOP, and learned about how useful AI can be in a variety of tasks and disciplines.
Jamie: If you could live in any movie or TV universe for a day what would it be?
I would definitely be Hermione from Harry Potter and go to Hogwarts. I have a huge Harry Potter obsession and going to a school for magic seems so fun!
Jamie: Describe your perfect weekend.
I have no work to do, I can hang out with my friends and my boyfriend and just watch movies, cook, read, and relax peacefully!
